Carbon Monoxide Emissions from Corn Silage

چکیده
Carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from corn silage were observed using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and laser spectroscopy. In the first experiment, was produced laboratory bucket silos. Air samples collected silos during week of ensiling analyzed a low-resolution Bruker FTIR spectrometer coupled with long optical path length White Cell. The CO concentration in silo gas, derived spectra LINEFIT program, as high 48.0 ppm. second air through flux chamber an Ag-Bag pile on commercial dairy that opened several months after ensiling. high-resolution spectrometer, concentrations retrieved to be 6.83 ppm, corresponding area emission rate 33.7 mg/(hour ·m2). An LGR N2O/CO gas analyzer based infrared also used measure same chamber. Elevated these sources. present study revealed emitted by different phases Annual estimated much lower than those well-known categories San Joaquin Valley (SJV) California, but comparable food agricultural sources SJV. It is confirmed viable method for measuring complex mixtures, such gas.

Ranking Corn Silage Hybrids
Corn hybrids for silage vary in yield and several quality traits that affect farm profitability, which is the prime criterion on which hybrids should be ranked. The partial budget approach is the only way to rank corn hybrids for silage for individual farms according to their effects on farm profits. Partial budgets consider only those costs and returns that change in response to the corn hybri...
متن کاملInoculants for Corn Silage
Various spoilage microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts and molds) readily grow on crops going into a silo, causing losses in dry matter and quality. To prevent these various microorganisms from growing, two conditions are needed in the silo: an oxygen-free (or anaerobic) environment and a low pH. Many of the oxygen-requiring (aerobic) microorganisms that heat the silage as well as causing losses can...
متن کاملEmissions of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and methane from boreal forest fires in 1998
[1] The global boreal forest region experienced some 17.9 million ha of fire in 1998, which could be the highest level of the decade. Through the analysis of fire statistics from North America and satellite data from Russia, semimonthly estimates of area burned for five different regions in the boreal forest were generated and used to estimate total carbon release and CO2, CO, and CH4 emissions...
متن کاملCarbon monoxide from SCIAMACHY
Vertical columns of CO have been retrieved from SCIAMACHY/ENVISAT short wave/near infrared (∼2.3 µm) nadir spectra using the Weighting Function Modified (WFM) DOAS retrieval algorithm. WFM-DOAS has been applied to a small spectral fitting window located in SCIAMACHY's channel 8 (∼2365 nm) covering four CO absorption lines. The 5 focus of this paper is to demonstrate that quantitative informatio...
